It's interesting how the concept of Ben always transforming into a peak of the species inadvertently makes Wildmutt, Bullfrag and Kickin-Hawk look unique compared to the rest of their species.

The omnitrix is known to rejuvenate every DNA in its system to its prime, so its possible that your first theory is correct.

The following notes from the cannon explain why Ben’s Wildmutt transformation isn’t different to the rest of the species:
1) The omnitrix can only use sapient DNA samples. Vulpimancers are at the lowest end of the spectrum in terms of being sapient but safe enough for transformation.
2) All alien samples in the omnitrix will produce the peak physical version of any species regardless of the host the sample was taken from. Some samples came from sick aliens, artificial beings, halflings(humans with an alien parent), extinct ones, or the opposite gender (if it exists) but can still be viable enough for the omnitrix to work with and reconstruct accordingly.
3) Yes. Every transformation will contain the DNA of the host when active. This why will Ben is still Ben whilst in an alien body. However, his DNA doesn’t affect the appearance of any is aliens with the exception of nanomech, who is part human. Interestingly enough, because there is some human DNA is each transformation this can cause some unique genetic changes whenever Ben gets sick (if you know you know).
4) Wildmutt, in OG series, is the prime “10 year old” equivalent of a vulpimancer and hasn’t reached physical maturity yet. In the first BEN 10, 000 episode we actually see a “30 year old” Wildmutt with a tail and dark stripes forming on his back so in time his face and tongue will grow too.
5) When Ben tried to talk to actual Vulpimancers that were both older and bigger Grandpa Max made in clear that they aren’t keen on big to small talk.

I think it's because that vuplimancers we saw far are from the null void so maybe the environment changed their appearance so that's why they don't look like wildmutt

I always assumed it was because just like dogs there are different breeds of different looks and sizes

The Omnitrix absolutely altered it because when Ben transforms into an alien he turns into the peak physical and mental example of that species. That is why even though female tetramand are stronger than their male counterparts, Ben still beat Princess Looma.

I think most likely the Vulpimancers at their prime used to have human level intelligence but due to the deterioration damaging their brains they became less intelligent and sentient.

Either there are different subspecies of Vulpimancer, or those other Vulpimancers we see are just significantly older than even Ben 10, 000’s version.

My theory is that unlike humans who at their peak become big, wildmutts species becomes smaller and smarter more they reach their peak.

It’s actually explained in ultimate alien, the other vulpamancers are in their evolved forms, when Ben went ultimate wildmutt his vulpamancer form looked like other vulpamancers

The first theory makes the most sense.

Omnitrix eliminates any habits or anything that messes up the brain of the user because of transforming...hence it also eliminate wild-mutt's primal instict ande made it better suited for the holder ...

I think it's because That's what adult volumancers look like when they're from the wild. It has babies and possibly even into adolescence they resemble more like Ben's. But then growing up they would like loose more teeth until they only had those couple ones left and other such things. The kind of thing that wouldn't happen if they were able to take better care of their teeth for instance. For example In some cases animals will actually live longer in captivity because as humans we can give them better care than they would even know how to in the wild.

I believe it's the fact that the Omnitrix makes the transformation. The prime version of that alien the best it can be and then the ultimatrix just puts in the harshest conditions for 10, 000 years

Bens OG wildmutt will always be my favorite alien. The design is just so awesome, the head shape, the ability to see in inferred with gill like heat sensory organs, the display structures along the back and arms and how the omnitrix sits on the shoulder.

Is he bens most rare or powerful alien? No but its iconic and has very unique design. Never liked the "adult" version though the mouth looked more like something youd see on a worm than something called "wildmutt".

But i did like the ultimate version which in my headcannon thats what the "adult" verson should look like.

I think it's just that the smaller form is the peak form. Like, all of his other aliens, it's just the peak of the species.

My personal theory is that the Null Void is responsible for why other vulpimancers look different due to harsh environment of it and thus had to adapt

Ultimate wild mutt could even talk lol

Or more logically And realistically, that's just what an Apex Vopamancer looks like
