About Blur:
Blur were formed in 1989 by Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree and signed with Food/EMI the same year. Announcing their arrival with debut album Leisure in 1991, Blur continued to revolutionise the sound of English popular music with second release Modern Life Is Rubbish (1993). Five successive UK #1 albums followed - with Parklife (1994) and The Great Escape (1995) helping to propel the band to mass popularity in the UK and beyond. The eponymous Blur was released in 1997 and seventh album Think Tank (2003) was Blur’s first as a three-piece after the temporary departure of founding guitarist Graham Coxon.

Twenty one years after the release of their debut album, 2012 saw Blur 21: The Box, the band's body of work compiled and gathered together into one box. Their most recent release as a four-piece, the critically acclaimed chart-topping album The Magic Whip (2015), started life in Hong Kong when the band had an unexpected break in touring in May 2013.

Here is an impressive audio detail on this album. At the very beginning of the first track Lonesome Street you hear a strange digital whip-like sound effect, repeating in both the left and right speakers.
I thought it sounded like a "magic whip" so I listened to the Ice Cream Man song, and at 2:06 there is the same sound effect. It comes just after this line: "With a swish of his magic whip, All the people in the party froze".
So the album actually begins with a magic whip! Hats off to the producer Stephen Street for making this much effort.

This group is so good to me because of their range.  They have range like a motherfucker.  This song is so good man.  Shows you that Blur is just great.  Period.  You can't compare them to themselves of past works.  They change it up every time.  But this is a different thing man.  Feels like a renewed spirit within the sound.  Of course I love it.  I'm not desparate to love them because they are Blur.  They made me love them because of the talent in that group.  It seems maturity has made them better as well.  Cheeses get better with age they say(The bassist own some cheese company I've heard so I wanted to throw that in.  Sorry)

Immaculate chord choice, this track is Damon under and over

Some people say that this song sounds like Everyday Robots. Some people say it sounds like Gorillaz. Some people say it sounds like Blur... Guys, Damon fucking Albarn is the main character in all those bands, they're obviously gonna sound similar at some point.

There will always be people who will say that this record is "just what the fans want but nothing new" and the ones who are gonna say "doesn't sound nothing like the old blur I used to listen". But you know, fuck it, I think this is AMAZING. I really really loved it and I can't wait to hear the full album.

I really like the thematic style of the album so far, the sort of "cheaply edited together" look of it, goes well with what we've heard of the album so far.
