I lost my 16 year old dog Rodney last year. I was so sad without him that my family brought me Bertie. He is now just over a year old. What surprises me is how much Bertie is like Rodney. Is this a case of nurture vs nature where I’m treating Bertie the way I treated Rodney therefore his behaviour is similar. Both awesome dogs. I am so lucky to have shared my life with them and all my previous dogs

I must confess, I’ve had a dog for 10 years now and knew a lot of this. I don’t let him lick my face though, I always thought that was an attempted sign of dominance?
I may review my position on that.
He often brings me his toys or treats though and I suspected it was a good sign but it’s nice to have it confirmed.

Thank you & God bless you for the excellent look into dogs behavior. Being 74 & had my share of life experiences have found that the dog kind are much better than the human kind. The most important reason why I believe that is the animal kind do not abort their unborn pups or kittens as the human kind have now for over 50 years. Hope I'm not being too blunt to leave that last comment.
