Just Watched JOKER 2: Folie à Deux...

I just watched the new DC Film Joker 2 Folie à Deux (2024) starring Joaquin Phoenix as Joker and Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn. Out of The Theater Review and Reaction of Joker 2.

You can tell no one who reviewed the movie online genuinely liked it. I've watched several reviews now and haven't heard one person say, 'I'm going to see it again." They're all trying their best not to sound pessimistic.

Without spoilers, This is another movie about Aurthur Fleck being assaulted or abused by everyone he encounters. Each relationship in the movie, the trail, the media, and yes even Harleys character, all use him for their own purpose - assault or abuse him, and then abandon him when he doesn't become what they want from him. After watching this, my husband and I needed to go do something to wear off the energy. I wouldn't have chosen to watch Joaquin being assaulted for 2 hours in theaters. It was well acted, but hard to watch, and left me wanting.

This movie wasn't so much as a sequel as a postscript. It also liberally borrowed from Chicago, just as the.first borrowed from Network, Taxi Driver, and The King of Comedy

I enjoyed this film and I agree it does feel like a Joker 1.5 in which he deals with his actions. I genuinely don’t understand the hate. Some of the things people point to I completely rebuttal. Definitely enjoyed it, go see it.

The first Joker was perfect did not need a sequel, but I think with all the success of the first movie Hollywood could not leave it alone. But I think Lady Gaga adds an interesting twist, I guess their is more to be fleshed out about Arthur Fleck's Joker and the environment that turned him into the Joker, and giving him a love interest also on the losing end of society can give the movie an new and interesting perspective on the first story, and as much I love the first one, and see it as a perfect stand alone, i will give this second movie a chance even in its new perspective.
