Thanks for this! I've seen so many conflicting reviews and wasn't sure if I should bother. I had put a physical copy on hold with my library and there are so many people in line for it that I probably won't get it until the fall. Guess I'll wait until then and see how I feel.

Loved hearing your thoughts! I felt very similarly about the characters and writing. It definitely came across to me like characters were aged up but acted much younger, and Violet's inner narration was the main reason I couldn't connect to the romance. I loved the dragons though! I feel like the author did a lot of unique things with dragon worldbuilding that hadn't been done yet, which is always exciting to find (especially with how many dragon books there are out there). I'm planning to continue on to the sequel and see what she does with it all.

I was very interested in this because of the dragons which was what I heard about it initially. But after knowing that there's romance in it, I'm kinda turned off. It's not that I'm super against it or whatever but I oftentimes find that it's done poorly and detracts from the story if it's not supposedly dubbed as fantasy romance. So is it technically marketed as fantasy romance? Is it something I can ignore or is it technically major to the storyline and no matter what I do, I can't really skip past it.

I was this close 👌 to buying the audiobook since reading physically has been impossible to me this year and I don't where I thought that I have 145 riyals laying around to buy the book so I didn't do it and the same day I watched marines 😅 and I dodge a bullet 🫡 I almost got caught in the hype 😅 and also what a stupid nickname for someone you have romantic interest in 🙄 anyway I enjoy your review 🥰🥰
