Surge was made to be less noisy and have more precision. If you're not driving big lag screws all day and wanting to not strip and cam out screws then go with the surge.

Surge has 450 torque, and Gen 4 has 2000 torque.

I got the Surge. It beats my old “made in USA” Dewalt 20v hex impact. And it does it more precisely and more quietly. Sure it might not be the fastest, but I can usually drive self tapping screws and other weak screws without breaking the head off or stripping the threads. And when I do need the power, it hasn’t failed to deliver yet. Should I need more power than it can provide I’ll either break out my 1/2” impact or my hammer drill depending on the application.
IMO, the Surge should be an M12 only tool because it’s meant to be small and quiet. The 4th Gen M18 should be the M18 option.

My impact wouldnt drive a ledger lock. I took it in and they swapped me to a surge. It doesnt drive a ledger lock. I see vids of it being done... not for me though. I bought a 1/2 in mid torque and a hex adapter.

The Surge is only 450 in lb, which sounds a bit weak to me, but it's the only Impact driver on Black Friday sales. LOL!

Surge is ass with large fasteners, doesn’t have much torque. I only use my surge for IKEA furniture and other small things that need assembly

Cuando hagas este tipo de videos comparativos procura mostrar el momento en el que procedes a insertar el tornillo para dar credibilidad, acá en esta escena a nadie le consta que uno u otro pudo aver sido penetrado de forma total para posteriormente hacer el papel vs el otro equipo.
