Matt Andrews, Associate Professor of Public Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School and Faculty Associate at CID, leads an interactive session on Problem-Driven Iterative Adaptation (PDIA). Professor Andrews explains that PDIA is a process innovation that CID’s Building State Capability Program has been using within many countries to help governments find and fit solutions to complex problems that are specific to local context. He walks through an example of this process in Sri Lanka, describing in detail how a team in the government has been building the capabilities and the authority to address a binding constraint to economic growth through action and learning by doing.
