How to Fix Drywall in a Bathroom or Any Other Room (Step-by-Step) -- by Home Repair Tutor
Показать описание
Learning how to fix drywall will save you mucho dinero. Seriously, I've learned my lesson.
Today you'll see how to fix a ceiling and cut down on the repair time. I've got several tips that'll hopefully help you with your project.
The first step is to measure the thickness of your old drywall or plaster.
Turn off any electricity that's in the ceiling. In this tutorial I had to remove a recessed light that was smack in the middle of the repair.
Measure the length and width of the hole and cut a piece of drywall that'll cover these dimensions.
Place the new drywall piece over the hole and trace it with a marker.
Cut the drywall in the ceiling to size and voila!! You have a perfect new piece of drywall that'll fill in the hole.
In the video you'll see that I had to add extra framing. I know some will think this was a waste but this is my preference.
If you're working alone it's not a bad idea to add one screw to each corner.
Then you can hoist the drywall (depending on it's size) up to the ceiling and screw it in place.
Because the ceiling in this video had texture I used mesh tape instead of paper tape...again, some prefer paper but mesh is better IMO for textured surfaces.
Check out the rest of the video to see how to fix drywall, especially a drywall ceiling
