The graph doesn't specify any qualifications for what is shown in the data. Thus the Linux kernel (written in C) might count as a single point for "1 project made releases this month" ; or maybe 1000 because "1000 developers contributed this month" ; maybe 7 billion because "7 billion users" ; or maybe even 20 billion because "20 billion devices"?

I find it interesting that C -> Java -> Python is basically the progression of which programming language I used most at a given time.

0:34 Assembler. Isn't the language Assembly, and an Assembler is a "compiler" for assembly language?

1995 to 1996 felt like all languages below C were saying "Every man for himself!"

For the first 25 seconds, almost every language in the top get used less and less. I can only think there has been an explosion of lesser-used languages and these are diluting the pool.

To what unit are you measuring the popularity with?

In ten years, I just want to see rust skyrocket in popularity.

I find it interesting as I'm a retired S/W Systems Engineer who started out in 1971.

I have to wonder how much of this is new programming compared to companies that had old projects. COBOL was still in the back-end for many government and business uses 20 years ago, beginning to lose popularity mainly because the older mainframers that used them were retiring and companies were needing to change their infrastructure. Companies are slow to change their core processes because of the cost involved. However, I can definitely accept the shifts in general.

I also wonder what the source of the data is? Would this be based on the type of programmers hired?

1:33 - 1) С: 48, Ada - 46, Pascal - 34, 48+46+34 > 100, so what does the x axis mean?

There's no key, so assuming a 1 to 1 relationship. I programmer to 1 on your chart.

Ok so c# is climbing in the rankings but it’s popularity seams to fall, I wonder if that has something to do with web front ends, it will be interesting to se how this changes as was and blazer becomes more popular ( if they indeed do.
