I think the colour palette of each character in wuthering waves fits perfectly into the world they've built in the game tbf

So, when WuWa uses muted-color palette, it's bad. But when ZZZ uses the same palette + marvel filter on top of that, it's good? I guess some people just doesn't have eyes and logic.

I prefer WuWa character models more than Genshin. Not saying that Genshin's models are bad, I just like simple color palettes and not saturated colors. One could argue that WuWa character models are simplistic but once you see what they can do in combat, everything just comes together. Jinhsi might be the perfect example for this since I think Jinhsi has the most complex palette atm. Her outfit is just a silver white dress with black contrast, and then you see her in action and you see white golds and the jade dragon. All of a sudden, you see a lot of colors using her. In a sense, I could even argue that their models are functional to what they can do in combat. Like Sanhua's outfit being all black while her skills and liberation puts bluish-white ice glaciers on the field. And, since Sanhua's outfit is black, you could easily spot her after all those shenanigans.

everytime a PGR character is announced, the idiots always complain of the colors etc, until they see the gameplay and animation and realize, thats when the character is complete to give an opinion on him/her, and always turn around the opinions, because kuro use a lot of effects and animation aside the PNG to sell the characters.

This will happend the next patch with the first character on wuwa, when the idiots see Xiangli Yao ingame with animations and voice, they will flip like burgers.

genshin shills is 100% nitpicking cuz they alr admitted their game have worse combat, QoL, Graphics, Rewards, Dev communication, banners, exploration, competitive players approach than wuwa so theyre getting mad at wuwa for having like bugs, translation(which there is also tons in genshin, zzz release) so they bringing shit up like my game Have better characters than you, our game have better story, our game have better music(which is not even good and mostly yapfest like the writers are just getting paid by word count) yada yada yada nonsense which is pointless argument cuz its subjective and depends on users some like wuwa story some like genshin story and some like wuwa chars vice versa while the things mention above is not subjective and its just there as facts

Put any 2 models from wuwa and gensh next to each other. genshins look cheap and not detailed

Wuwa's designs have a theme, and while you could argue they're more bland compared to Genshin. I would say Genshin designs are a little over tuned, to the point that they don't really fit the world in comparison with NPCs. All the Jinzhou characters, even though their designs are clearly more tuned up, they still fit the designs of the NPCs, and so they fit more cohesively with the world design.

I think the desaturation fits WuWa’s more post apocalyptic world

black or dark color is pretty much KURO's signature thing (cuz it says in the name too XD)

Wuthering waves design and 3d models is a standard. Ppl accustomed to hoyo designs tend to not able to appreciate certain artistic design choices and cant see past the surface. Dont get me started on GI and HSR clothes which they copy paste to various characters...if they use argument that wuwa has same color pallette or belts

Genshin is mostly for kids lol. The only chars I like (from perspective of design) are Navia, kokomi, nahida, alhaitham and wriothesley. (u can prob see the patterns, white & black 😂)

Meanwhile in Wuwa, I like almost every 5 stars chars except encore (shes alright). I also rlly like Baizhi and Sanhua, they are so pretty.. I saw the new chars drip marketing too, the girl is SO CUTE omg..

Also, is it just me that I think body proportions in genshin is a bit off?

Keep in mind, Kuro games are not new to fashion and design. Look at PGR with their outfits, mind blowing creativity and designs. Some may see that WuWa's designs aren't as flashy or stand out, but you have to understand that this is a completely different style Kuro is trying to play around and work with. They already did very well with Jinhsi, Yinlin, Jiyan and Changli's design. As time progresses, we may see even more better designs for characters, just like how Genshin had pretty boring character designs in its first couple months of the game.

Personally .. it's not about colors as much as the art style ig. Got no knowledge about designing
However.
Hoyo games characters are super flashy and more cartoonish and childish idea of men and women.
Like imagine if there was a collab and genshin is gonna release yinlin. Even thu she dresses in black, the artstyle is gonna be super cartoonish and bad.

So i don't think it's about wearing black. It's about the art itself or model

To me as an artist, two of the main criteria for a good character design are whether the design can convey the character visually (identity, personality, profession, etc) and whether the character design actually fits in their setting. I think WuWa succeeds in both aspects. But personally I'm just partial to Hoyo's character designs from Genshin onwards lol (I do like some HI3 designs too but not a lot tbh)
I am looking forward to seeing more characters in the future, but rn it's kind of a mixed bag for me

wuwa design bland? to think i'll live long enough to see this headline.. well joke aside nay.. they do feel way less colorful than mihoyo game but i don't think this is what the talk is about ok here first you need to know the game concept it's after apocalypse if you start putting childish and colorful looking cloths too much (i mean we do got encore) like ex genshin which suit their theme of colorful world in this wuwa world which looks void because of the concept than it will feel like a clown because of the mismatch.. got what i mean? lastly colorful doesn't mean it has better design.. tbf i even hardpressed to search someone for example in gi to fought changli design.. and jinhsi design herself is top notch.. the cloth is just so so tho.. but point is let's adjust our thinking to the game concept ok

Melty Blood is a good study case of what matter in designing characters in combat games

Wuwa char quality is way higher than genshin. if u look closely all characters in wuwa are so close to their 2d arts that its easy for wuthering waves trailers to transition to 3d to 2d while genshin, zzz, star rail are so far off even with max graphics

I think Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail and most other games in general have TOO MUCH detail, like I swear 80% of the characters in Genshin have those scarf cape things that hang down their back maybe its a chinese thing but I hate it personally and think many characters would look better without them and then theres so much extra assessory stuff like sometimes they make sense and the character turns out amazing but other times it comes off as too much like I'm not saying they need to be more revealing but sometimes "less is more" I just feel like some Characters appear overly cluttered in a way.

Even on Fortnite though I only use like 10-15 skins and the rest of them are archived so I'm a very picky person, personally I think WuWa's designs are fine most of them don't appear overly cluttered besides like Verina or Jinhsi but I love Jinhsi's design and I love her damage too XD but I notice most of the male skins seem to be similiar with like coats or capes.

A lot of WuWa character wears techwear, which is practicle for high mobility movement and fights.

This is what you are missing. The characters in Genshin are wearing dresses which are utterly unsuitable for combat but are pretty and fits a ball scenario. So it feels like bringing a dancing wear to combat, it makes no sense, but it's cool.
