sir, if we have to prove that a given set is not a vector space then simply we have to take an example and show one of the axiom is not satisfied and hence this is not a vector space, but to prove it as a vector space we need to take the general thing not an example, in the lecture when you proved polynomials of a particular degree n is not a vector space, you took an example because you knew already that it will not form a vector space, but when someone is unknown i mean the qn if it is asked that to check whether it forms a vector space or not, do we need to consider an example 1st and if it satisfied, then only we will proceed to become general?
