How to Rescue a Bad Paint Day: Transforming Watercolor Mistakes

In this video, I set out to create a minimalist watercolor piece featuring simple shapes, lines, asemic writing with ink, and some stencil work. Unfortunately, it didn't turn out as planned. Instead of discarding the failed piece, I decided to salvage it by cutting out beautiful hearts from the watercolor paper. These vibrant hearts can now be used as art prompts, thoughtful gifts, included in cards, or even framed as unique art pieces. Join me in this creative journey and discover how to turn art mishaps into meaningful masterpieces!

These hearts would look awesome on a greeting card (perhaps 3 of them lined up in a row with black stitching through them.) Just an idea for all of us who have failed watercolours in our stash. 😊

Love the hearts, and the piece left over with the cutouts. All good!

I like your complete fails. They always look good to me. As you say no paint day is a complete fail. I can hear you saying that as I have paint days that really don’t quite match my expectations. Every painting day is a learning curve for me. Love watching your videos.

You taught me the punching out hearts way back when and I do it all the time! Sometimes for a fail/learn/discover and sometimes I’ll paint a piece specifically to punch out hearts. I leave little love notes on them for my husband. My favorite use was the 60 hearts I gave a friend in a pretty little display box for her 60th birthday. She loved that gift! ❤

I don’t see this as a fail. It would make a lovely greeting card. In fact, the hearts would be great on a greeting card.
