Some young people that have been in accidents and have lost most of their teeth, this would be a god send.

This is really needed. A lot of people have missing teeth. And getting fake replacements is very expensive.

That is so cool! My husband originally had a beautiful nice set of straight white teeth but the medications he had to take in the long term messed up two teeth real bad and they fell out, meanwhile the rest are damaged. This technology would give him and many others a chance to regrow new and healthy teeth.

I suffer from bad teeth due to very harsh chemotherapy over a long period of time (5+ years in total). The sidewalls of my teeth rot out. I would be happy to grow all new teeth.

Edit: thanks for all the likes! What an amazing supportive community! Since I made this comment I have a new cavity in the sidewall of my tooth next to my canine tooth right at the gum line. Looks like a new crown or implant coming!

I'm actually pretty excited for this. I come from a family of really bad oral hygiene and thus I didn't grow up with very good brushing habits. Pretty much all of my teeth need to either be extracted or have major work done to be salvageable. If this ever becomes mainstream available and affordable I would be the first to jump on it. It would be my dream to have a set of natural, real, healthy teeth that I could start brushing properly. It's so hard to be encouraged to brush my teeth when they're already ruined.

Edit: I doubt anyone will see this, but to those of you who replied to my comment with gentle correction instead of judgment, I just want you to know I appreciate you. Also I doubt this will be as big a deal to anyone else as it is to me, but I brushed and floss this morning and my gums hurt like heck to prove it.

15 years or so a go my wife & I watched a Japanese program about this on the NHK channel on their discovery of protein#15 that grew new gums, teeth, blood vessels in older patient. Some had teeth and gum issues fixed, some started to walk again after treatment . I was expecting more news but it never came up till this short video. Thanks.

I have been talking about this for 5 years.. waiting because also people with deteriorating enamel conditions or chipped teeth or facing costly crowns (who never had braces) would benefit however it would be better if people could regrow only specific teeth too. Maybe an injection or modification to the gene to control better at the site where that particular tooth would grow? Also no one wants to go through wisdom tooth pulls again. But this process shows hope and promising progress! Im excited!
