One thing this movie missed was Goldman didn’t just sell off its MBS position. While they were doing that, they were also shorting the markets to make even more money.

The tension build up is well done that it made me forget it's all string of events that took place in a span of 24 hours. Brilliant film.

When I feel like watching a financial drama, I usually watch this and The Big Short back to back. Good films about the 2007 crash.

"This is just our floor!?"
"Yes"

Darkest joke in the movie is how Peter keeps having to explain it in simpler terms the higher up he goes. Paul Bettany's character gets it pretty quickly.

Love this movie. Rather than trundling over the whole process of the crash as too big to fail did very well, it just focuses on one critical 24 hour period and the lengths a company would go to in order to survive. The line "you will never sell anything to these people ever again" also seems somewhat apt right now.

Will and Seth sobered up pretty damn fast after Peter shows them his findings.

If you haven’t seen margin call, do yourself a favour and give it a watch. It’s an enjoyable dramatised 24 hour snapshot of what the lead up to the GFC was. Great acting.

I like how Will sobered up in an instant

One of my fav scenes of all time. The most startling sea change, starting off lighthearted then the gradual descent into despair and total utter horror.

Will Emerson (Paul Bettany) immediately knew what was happening after the model was explained. He didn't even need to see the bad projections, he knew that a collapse was going to happen and was even already there.

One of my favourite bits of this movie is the next scene where Will calls his boss about the projections, and the boss says *I'm busy, just email it to me*, in which case Will, in no uncertain terms, brilliantly emphasizes *i Do Not Think That Would Be A Good Idea* (paper trail). 👌

One thing to note is that the CEO knows the risk, this analysis is simply the tipping point in which the company must sell all of their securities. Imagine all the shitshow bear stearns are having lol
