I have an OP-1 and while I can afford a TX-6, I still think this price is insane. It’s ok to make quality products with a matching price tag but the main goal of a musical instrument company should be to empower more and more people to make music. This product, although amazing, makes me wonder if Teenage Engineering is more focused on being a luxury brand first.

This is something Andrew Huang would buy, except he'll get it free

Already waiting for Behringer to make the same thing for 200 bucks.

Thought it was still 4/20 cause that price is HIGH!

If this was half the price I'd be debating buying it right now, but when I saw the price tag I literally laughed out loud.

There are dozens of 12-16 channel USB mixers for under $200. You can get a Zoom R16 that also multirrack RECORDS 32 channels, and doesn't just mix/USB interface, for 200-300.

For 400 and up, a new Zoom L12-24.

For what this costs you can get a friggen Tascam R24!!

All full size mix/multitracker/USB interfaces, with pre-amps, effects, XLR, 48v phantom power, the list goes on. Ones that RECORD AUDIO and not just mix. You know, real fucking mixers and not plastic miniaturized scams.

If you want something tiny, Zoom and Tascam make whole lines of 4-6-8+ channel field recorders for less, which are actual pieces of durable professional audio equipment. Often with their own very good condenser mics build in. For about half the price or less.

If you just need a tiny 3.5mm MIXER ONLY, like this, you can get a good one for literally 50-100 bucks.

I lost all respect for T.E. after this one. I used to admire them. But this is just taking advantage of people who don't know better. And I'm sure it's made for 1/20th that price by near slave labor in Asia. Stop supporting this. I know it looks cool and minimalist. But this is just insulting.

Piss take with the price, why people still buy from this company still baffles me, can get MPC X for the same price if you shop about, insane

Impractically tiny, underspecced, and way overpriced.

perfect for the Roland Boutiques that also require tweezers to tweak.

1199€ LoL....only for rich people who have money to burn ... You could have made a cheaper version without the groovebox, which perhaps would have made more sense ;)

here is an overview of your pricetag:

its $1k too fucking expensive
$200 would have been reasonable.

Micro review from a tx-6 and op-1f owner. Ultra mobility right on the limit of what's too far (for instance: using just your phone). These are premium, fine instruments. The best benefit is not really apparent at first (but was probably the point): having a whole thing right at my kitchen table (or wherever), amongst family, dogs, friends, etc. Tx-6, op-1f, op-z, and my phone (running whatever). All completely backpack-able with real wires and faders, And I am not locked up, isolated in my little studio. It is changing the way I create music. Also great: staying away from the DAW until the last possible moment.

I needed a portable field mixer that lets me run all channels separately into iPhone/iPad over usb, and this device does that well. The portability, the quality of the on-board pre-amps and effects, and the expansiveness of the thing makes it worth it to me.
If you don’t need all that stuff, then there are plenty of alternatives that cost less. I haven’t seen anything that has the same features with that disturbingly small form factor though.

Market: We need a mixer for pocket operators.
TE: Cool. So first, lets give a premium metal case.
Market: Well ok, doesnt fit the PO esthetic, but I guess it kinda fits OP1, but then again OPZ is plastic soo...
TE: We also add a sythetizer.
Market: What?! No. You plug the synthetizers into it. There is no need for onboard...
TE:... Wireless connectivity !
Market: Well yes, but actually no. A simple mixer that...
TE:... and a sequencer!
Market: God damnit. Fine. Throw in the multitrack recording into it since we are going all nuts with this thing.
TE: Now THAT'S.... just nonsense.
Market: Oh, ok. Well at least price won't be THAT high then.

Market: It wont be. Riiight??!

For $1200 even you can have one... this product aint worth no more than $150 and you need DI boxes... this almost worthless.

1300 bucks. Blatant disrespect to the music community who made your brand everything it is. Gross.

They missed a trick by not adding a sampling looper into this. That would really open up the OP-1 esp when sync'd up to this.

This looks fascinating. Too bad it’s literally the price of a used decent condition Honda Civic
