I'm not sure that I can add anything useful to the many words that have been written about the great Enrico Caruso (1873-1921). It's been just on 100 years since his death, yet his complete recordings are still available, and long may they remain in the catalogues.

'Adorables Tourments' was a joint effort of the tenor and his accompanist Richard Barthelemy. It is beautifully sung, and that high C at the end is a stunner!

The record was made on 10 January 1908. It is here transferred from a Victrola 'bat wing' pressing.

That high note is actually an A4, far below a High C.
