One of my favorite lines from this movie actually happened right after Carlotta stormed out (it's not on this clip). The former owner of the opera house turned to the new owners and said, "Gentlemen, good luck! If you need me, I'll be in Australia."

I freakin love carlotta! She might be a huge drama queen but she’s one of my favourite characters in this movie...her singing isnt actually that bad, exceptionally gorgeous actually. What she does lack in her voice though is compassion.

For the people that love to comment "ooh i don't know why they keep saying Carlotta can't sing, she's has classically trained voice": Opera, or better, the Music Universe itself, is not only singing technique or workout. It needs PASSION, the actors need to surrender to the character, and that's everything Carlotta isn't. Yes, she sings, but she doesn't have passion, specially to sing Think Of Me. Christine has an innocent and naive voice, and she understands how much deep art and music is. Not to mention that Carlotta is an extremely arrogant, proud and selfish person, no one in the theater sympathized with her.

This Carlotta bit and when she's being a huge diva right before this about her costume is the ONLY bit of the entire movie that's better than the theatre version (specifically 25th Anniversary). Literally everything else is better onstage.

Honestly, in the movie version, I never understood the hate Carlotta received, and the love Christine received. The singer playing Carlotta actually has a wonderful, classically trained voice, whereas Emmy sounds... okay? I guess?
