Hi Kelsie!
I am a 61 year old woman and have been knitting and crocheting all my life, but you taught me how to start a double crochet row. Those are amazing two single crochets. I always started with chain. Your way is better and very beautiful.
Thanks

I’ve gone through SO MANY bandana tutorials and this one is the only one that’s worked. You explain stitches so well and the method is the easiest I’ve found!

You do such a good job in your tutorials! You explain things well, your lighting and work area is nice, your stitching is easy to see and I love the music in the background. Very professional!

Just made this to match the market bag I finished today. I'm ready for the beach!!
Thx for an easy, quick and well explained tutorial. 👍😊

Will be editing again to make directions look a little cleaner and nicer to read!!!

Magic ring (do not chain 1 in between rounds)

1:stacked single crochet (or ch2), 2 more double crochets (3 in total) ch 2, 3 more dc into mr, turn

2: stacked sc, dc into same stitch (increase), 2 dc into next 2 dcs, (in every chain spot do 2dc, ch2, 2 more dc), dc in next 2dc, end round with 2 dc into last stitch, turn

Continue row 2 until you reach 10 rows (dont forget increases on the start and ends of each row!)

Crochet along increases edges, long side:
Ch1, sc along the dc's (go to timestamp 11:10 for spacing details) until you reach the end

Scallops: ch1, ** sc around the last sc that was made (timestamp 14:13), skip 2 sts, 7 dc into 3rd stitch, skip 2 sts, sc into 3rd stitch, skip 2 sts, 7 dc into 3rd stitch, skip 2 sts, sc into 3rd stitch*** repeat until you get to the middle (5 scallops in total)

Middle scallop (ch 2 space): picot (sc, ch 3, sl st in the front of the sc (timestamp 17:57 for details) sc in ch 2 spot,

Continue scallop as reversed from *** and ** til you reach the end (timestamp 20:46 for finishing last scallop)

5 scallops on both sides

Straps: ch1, ch 65, sl st down 65 ch (I personally like sc down the straps better), sc along the long side until you reach the other side, ch 1, ch 65, sl st (or sc) down 65 ch

Leave about 4-5 inches when cutting yarn for weaving in (timestamp 24:30 for weaving process)

Hope this helps! Happy crocheting ❤❤

This was a 2 for 1 lesson for me. I now know to how to better weave in the ends.

You don’t want to know the Frankenstein methods that I was using. Yours are so much more professional. 😂

You are a very good teacher Kelsie! You explain things very clearly! I have never heard of the stacked single crochet. I love it as it looks so much like a double crochet!

Thank you so much for this, Kelsie!!! ☺️🫶🏻🧶. Also, this is a really good lesson for me re my often-too-tight tension (from amigurumi making)! Slips are a nightmare when my tension is so tight. Thank you, again! 🩷

I need to make a couple of these for my great niece to wear. She's got really dark chestnut hair, they would look so cute!

Super cute, about to finish making mine. I did buy a cheap little cotton yarn from Walmart and she’s really thin so I had to make 12 rows instead of 10 to get the 5 scallops but she’s cute overall thank you for the tutorial 😊🩷

I’ve been making ones like these for months, except that I do the peak and picot just a bit differently. Your tutorials are awesome!
