Apparently her invisibility glitches out when her body produces high amounts of adrenaline, and being a hero surrounded by excitement and constant danger just wasn't scary enough beforehand for us to ever see this happen until now.

Edit: I read the panel again. I feel like an idiot. The laser Aoyama shot at Toru pushed her body over its limits, and that's why it got like that. Similar reason, but I should've mentioned that.

wait if her hair also refracts light then why didnt the costume making team just make her clothes based on what the fibers of her hair are made of? her hair is also invisible so that means they could EASILY analyze and synthesize a fabric that would also be invisible WITH her.

so long story short: they could have easily made her clothes and an outfit that also stayed invisible.

I think toru should have a quirk awakening where she can turn things around her invisible, for example making the clothes on her body also invisible would easily allow her to not have to fight people while naked, additionally she can turn weapons invisible, another cool twist is making it so that she can turn herself visible if she wants to and then make a weapon invisible so that if she were to hold the weapon nobody would be able to tell that she's holding it which could make her power more unpredictable and would give her combat options instead of limiting her to stealth ops outside of redirecting Yuga's lasers
