Converse Chuck Taylor High Top vs Low Top

So, here we are with another Converse Chuck Taylor video. You guys seem to love these shoes and I get asked often on the channel which is better between the high top and the low top. Rather than answer the same question over and over, I thought it was time I made a video to help you decide.

In the video, I weigh up the pros and cons of both shoes, show you styling examples and on-feet shots. I have a side by side comparison of the high top and the low top towards the end of the video, so if you are still unsure, hopefully, that will help you decide. I talk about the versatility of each shoe, which is more comfortable and which is going to give you the most wear.

As I own both the high top and the low top in the Converse Chuck Taylor's, I thought I would let you know which I would choose if I had to choose between the two. It was a hard decision as I love both the low top and the high top but there is a winner for me and my style right now.

I’ve always preferred the high tops over the low tops but recently I’ve come to appreciate the mature look the of low tops. I’ve mentioned before that I like high tops for my more casual looks and the low tops for a more dressed up look. I do switch it up sometimes but that’s how I normally dress them.

Low tops for me. Easier to style, goes with pretty much any outfit imaginable (especially the all white one as shown in the vid). They are also one of those rare shoes that look great when dirty, worn in, etc. (tho this is true for any Converse shoe). I love the silhouette of the shoe, especially when compared against Vans. However, when it is rainy, I prefer wearing the Gore Tex high tops, since they provide style, comfort and functionality, especially in the summer, when you are less likely to be wearing boots and trousers and more shorts and trainers.

You're definitely right about the stiffness of the high tops. After walking around some you start feeling it. But I love my chucks ❤ that's the only thing I don't like about the high tops. Awesome video! Love your channel!

I love the high top version, because I'm also a fan of the logo patch. But as far as I've noticed, the downside of the high top is: the heel cap area tends to tear apart - especially when it is constantly stretched when you walk.

Love Your Video and You are sooo right from the Beginning to the End of your Video. I like the Low-Tops as well but there's something about the Hi-Tops. The Fashion of the Hi-Tops and they are better for my Angles where circulation is concerned. Converse 70s! My favorite footwear. Awesome!

I love both Hi and Lo. I usually wear the low tops in the summer, they feel more free. High tops are for the winter, the ankle is not exposed which makes it a lot warmer and more comfortable, in my opinion

Haven't got a Chuck Taylor but I'd go for a high top since I pretty much own Chelsea and combat boots. High tops seem to be more versatile to me. Wear them with trousers, shorts, you name it! Cheers Harry!
