Converting from mph to m/s - GCSE Physics

This video explains how we convert between the units of speed. In GCSE Physics we should always try and use metres per second (m/s), although in everyday life we often use miles per hour (mph). This is how to convert from one to the other.

There are 1609m in a mile and there are 3600s in an hour. Therefore, in order to convert from mph to m/s, we multiply by 1609 and divide by 3600. In order to convert from m/s to mph, we multiply by 3600 and divide by 1609.
