Math Lessons : How to Calculate Miles Per Hour

Miles per hour is calculated by knowing how long an object has been moving and how many miles it has covered in that span. Divide the number of miles traveled by the hours spent traveling to calculate miles per hour with help from a math teacher in this free video on basic math lessons.

if you want to calculate in smaller increments, like if your time did not exceed one hour, you will have to multiply what you get by 60. So lets say I jogged 5 miles in 46 minutes: divide 5miles/by 46 minutes take the answer to that and multiply by 60. So I averaged 6.5mph

What about seconds? Like if I time an unknown to 1 mile and its like 6:47 how do I do that?

A 3rd grader should be able to figure this one out, when you are dealing with an "even" number of hours... How about showing the math formula for figuring out 4 hours and 11 minutes to go the 300 miles, instead of 4 hours even.
