I remember seeing this musical when I was a kid. This video reminded be of parts of it like the Zeus and Hera puppets and how insane Pain and Panic were. The one thing that has stuck with me however after all these years was Hades like aggressively telling the joke “Why do kids eat their boogers? Because they won’t eat their broccoli!” And the chorus of groans from the audience.

I saw this for the first time back in 1998 and Hades had a non-wig version that had FIRE that exploded from the top of his head! Not surprised they cut that safety hazard. I have that version of the show on video, as well as the pirate musical they ran for only a few months. It had an entire ship on stage!

I love learning about all these cruise musicals, and I would have LOVED this if I got to see it in person. Hercules is one of my fave Disney movies and I am really hoping all the productions that have happened recently mean it’s coming to Broadway

I just binge watched the Hercules cartoon series on D+, and somehow the Hades in this musical reminds me of the episode where Icarus plays Hades in a school play. Basically they're both playing James Woods playing Hades by going completely over the top. And damn straight they should do more with Hercules. It's pretty underrated as far as the 90's movies go, even with ALL that merchandise and said cartoon series.

I remember I was in a play of beauty and the beast and one of the producers was saying how the napkins look like their from Athens. He then went on to tell me about this Cruise production.

This is the reason hercules became my favorite Disney movie and Hades and Meg became my personality 😆 I wish they would bring this to the parks. I am so glad you gave it a good review and appreciated it for the silly fun time it was meant to be.

Excellent DisTory episode, I remember a HunchBack stage show at Disneyland when that film released, was it a fever dream?? I swear I saw a blip of it on some of Disney’s 90s home videos
