How to wash your Dyson Cyclone V0 cord-free vacuum's filter unit.

In normal use, the filter unit should be washed at least once a month. Failure to wash it regularly could cause the LED filter indicator to illuminate.

Wash the filter unit using cold water without detergent. Wash the inside of the filter unit first; hold it upright under the cold water tap and agitate using a rotating motion. Next, wash the outside of the filter unit; fill the unit with cold water, place your hand over the open end and shake gently. Repeat washing the inside and outside of the filter unit until the water runs clear.

After washing, allow the filter unit to dry completely for at least 24 hours before replacing it.

Step 1. Remove the filter unit by twisting anticlockwise to the open position and gently pull away.
Step 2. Remove any excess debris from the filter unit prior to washing.
Step 3. Wash the inside of the filter unit first; hold it upright under the cold tap and agitate using a rotating motion.
Step 4. Wash the outside of the filter unit; fill the unit with cold water, place your hand over the open end and shake gently.
Step 5. Repeat both processes until the water runs clear.
Step 6. Gently tap the filter unit to remove any excess water.
Step 7. Leave the filter unit to dry with the open end facing up for a minimum of 24 hours.
Step 8. Ensure the filter unit is completely dry prior to refitting.
Step 9. To refit, return the filter unit to the open position and twist clockwise until it clicks into place.

After 2 years of good domestic use, washing the filters regularly, I found the tube and filter warning lights coming on a lot. This was solved by taking the filter off, opening the waste can and giving everything a good blast with compressed air.
I appreciate this may not be helpful for many people, but for those with a compressor, I recommend it.
PS I do not use my Dyson in the workshop, only in the home.

My wife kept cleaning the filter saying it only runs for a bit before it clogs up again. I took off the clear housing and used compressed air and blew out everything I could get it in. A lot of dust came out! Now it works again. Any video on what else to clean? I just did a quick job and didn't disassemble anything that much...

Eventually I found a rectangular - ish cut out in side of housing which I could empty (carefully) the dust crud out with a fork. That was causing the issue not the filter and I now have four of these bloody things.

I just got this and the release for the debris is SO HARD to get it open that the entire container came off. I don't KNOW if that's supposed to happen but it's EVERY TIME I TRY TO EMPTY IT.
Other than that, I love this vacuum!
I just HOPE that mine isn't defective.

I clean the filter once a month.

What the hell am I supposed to do to the metal mesh filter, though? Ours gets clogged. We just scrape what's on it off and tap at it to get anything else out. Is this the right process?

The 1st couple of times this worked very well. On the 3rd wash, after drying, my filter smells bad. What's the recommended way to remove the smell? A few drops of dish washer detergent with the water when next flushing it?

No matter how well you clean it, it just keep giving filtro filtro error, i changed 2 filter in 4 months, after 1st wash it never works again..fed up with the product. Fed up contacting them again and again for replacement filters

After cleaning the filter and waiting 24 hrs the the motor no longer works. All blue lights come on but not motor. Do you know what’s wrong? It worked before cleaning the filter.

LOVE my v10 but I just realized that now instead of just tossing the filter bag with my old 10 year old Panasonic I have to clean all the filter No free lunch I guess - and sure, Dyson is cheaper to run ... no messy bags etc .... but something I didn't realize. Of course the dust fine goes somewhere.

Mine has gone a bit fluffy though. Have I done something wrong?

The closest thing I can find to what looks like a model number on ours is underneath where, amongst a ton of other info, is something that mentions "SV10".. The filter on the back comes off as shown here but doesn't have the projected bit out the front, it's just a small, purple, circular thing the same diameter as the bit it screws into. Take what's shown in this video and imagine removing the thinner front part and that's what ours looks like. There's a filter that looks like the kind of air filter older cars used to have. ???

This is why I use a Miele C3 cause it's no maintenance

Warning. Don't put you hepa filter back in when its wet. You pay the price for it and have to get it fixed. FYI

would be cool if dyson simply made the inner filter piece replaceable instead of having to buy a whole plastic piece again, the second filter on ours got so clogged, i had to get a knife and cut into it.
