I love how in Arceus, they completely removed abilities... but Regigigas STILL has Slow Start. Somehow.

zacian: 170 attack
regigigas: 160 attack

zacian gets +1 attack boost upon switching in
regigigas gets slow start

I quite frankly love that Calyrex's base form sucks because he outright tells you he's nothing without his horse. And yeah, that's extremely true.

Seeing glastrier fail so spectacularly in singles feels weird considering how insanely good it is in VGC

Doesn't "Slow Start" also reset if you switch out? Regigias would actually be quite a bit more viable if that wasn't the case imo.

As a ZU main, I can confirm I never see Regigigas on a team. It’s so sad that such a dope mon sees zero use even in the ZeroUsed tier.

Articuno actually has a pretty nice niche on stall teams in UU and RU as a good Defogger thanks to Pressure letting it stall out Stealth Rock.

Part of what makes Silvally so bad is that it's the only Pokemon in the game that has to choose between an ability or an item. If you want to use a typed Silvally, you need to use an item for it, and if you want an actual item you effectively have no ability. I've always wondered why GameFreak didn't give the memories a 20-30% damage buff to their respective types of held by Silvally.

It’s so depressing to compare Regigigas’ stats to Zacian crowned. You gotta wait five turns to get a mon that has lower stats than the latter in every regard except HP, and he doesn’t even have that much more hp

At 8:15 this statement was said "If only Mesprit or Uxie had recover it would be a totally different pokemon"

Hold onto that thought. While compatability with Home is not available yet (It was confirmed to happen though) in Pokemon Legends Arceus, Mesprit DID get recover. As soon as the compatability is made, depending on the limits, Mesprit could see a huge change because of that

Regigigas is a constant reminder of Game Freak's boundless cruelty; in PLA where Abilities aren't used (though they're coded in), poor Regigigas is STILL shackled down by Slow Start. The poor titan is doomed to be as competitively useful as goddamn Ledian.

The fact that Arceus could change its type in Gen 7 with a Z-Crystal and Silvally couldn't do the same is one of the most confusing things about Gen 7 to me. Silvally wouldn't be much better given its stat total but at least it'd have a strong one-time nuke like other Pokemon had.

I really hope the Slow Start buff from Legends Arceus carries over to the main line, Regigigas having no stat drops and gaining a free Scarf and Band after 5 turns in battle is amazing.

It’s amazing how Glastrier is considered bad when its stats are just slightly worse than Calyrex-Ice, a Pokemon that has to compete and is threatened by Calyrex-Shadow but still manages to be amazing. Just goes to show how much Physical Lugia bulk, 130 STAB, and better support moves can do.

Why does Regigigas has to deal with the god forbidden slow start and on top being Normal type which has no resistances except for the Ghost immunity. Gamefreak did Regigigas real bad

Ngl, Silvally is the kind of mon that is so close to being great it’s sad. Some new moves, like hazards, eq, e speed, knock off and recover would help massively, and another idea would be to make the memories also give a boost to the specific type, similar to the plates they emulate. Best case scenario, a 50% boost to make offensive variants a menace.

I had a ton of fun in Gen 8 VGC playing Galar-Weezing with Neutralizing Gas to help out Regigigas and make it somewhat viable. So good

really dig the longer form content here, but that said, everything you put out is engaging and well made. i love lower tiers, you give them a lot of attention and time and i love that.

Really liked how detailed you're explanations are :) Would love a series for this for the rest of the tiers!

I love this. I’d love to see something similar with fully evolved Pokémon that are outshined by the NFE forms, or NFEs that look like they should/could be better than their fully evolved form but aren’t for whatever reason (I think scyther is a great example of this category given it has identical stats to it’s evolved form).
