Here is a few words from them ,
We (Nick and Steve Winiarski) are twin brothers, born and raised in the Bronx, in the same house our grandparents bought after immigrating to the country. We taught ourselves guitar in high school, started playing open mics, writing songs in college, and even performed in some of NYCs popular clubs and music venues.
In 2012, Nick was diagnosed with cancer, a dark period that put everything on pause for a couple of years. After recovery we performed and recorded a few tunes but never really worked up the courage to put much out there online.
When we first started writing music, we did so in a bedroom one floor below our grandparents bedroom. We didn’t know it at the time, but they were our biggest fans. We always thought we were playing too loud, keeping them awake at night, but after we lost our grandfather, grandma told us he loved listening and that it made him happy - that it made the house feel “alive”.
This song was written about and for both of our grandparents. We finished it in November of 2023 after losing our grandma.
We've always wanted to share our music and really appreciate your offer to share your beautiful cover version of Permanent with the world. We've written hundreds of songs in the past 20 years that no one has ever heard, but thanks to you more will hear our words than in all that time combined.
