There was a VERY butch lesbian girl in my HS drama class and one day when there was some free time, she actually did ask the rest of us some interesting questions about makeup and why we wear it. Men think I'm like this and try to flatter me for not wearing makeup. They tell me I don't need it. I get called a "Tomboy" as well. I find it wildly offensive. I have chronic illness, ADHD, anxiety and depression and I live mostly in poverty. Before I developed these issues I was an aspiring makeup artist. The lack of makeup (for me personally) is a literal manifestation of mental and physical illness, failure, and poverty. It's offensive that they think I am performing for them when I'm just sick and poor.
