The problem with the drinking cup example and most of Apples patents is that the design is incredibly obvious and intuitive. if you asked 100 random people to design a container to drink out of then most would look just like that cup. Likewise if you asked them to come up with a touch gesture to zoom alot would naturally come up with the idea to pinch.

Wow that sucks for you guys to have to wait for your orders to arrive. Here in Hong Kong, we have huge computer shopping malls with loads of shops dedicated to computer hardware/software. We don't need to wait at all. The parts are cheaper than these online shops too.

you are right you cant compare the technical aspect of those two products BUT the aesthetics are almost the same: ~10 inch touchscreen in the middle with 4 edges and plastic back it. looks like that is enough to win a lawsuit in the US. in my opinion you can patent things like home buttons etc but round edges on a tablet?? what is samsung supposed to do? use spikey edges that scratch my hand when using it?

This isn't the first time Apple have sued Samsung, there have been been at least two other this year. The EU high court ruled in favour of Samsung, while in South Korea the judge rule that both companies had copied each other.
