My new favorite coloring technique? Grayscale to color in Clip Studio Paint!

I am really enjoying working in grays to color! Here's the latest drawn by Stev Kurth for Hack/Slash: KYI for Image Comics. Hack/Slash was created by Tim Seeley.

If you have colorist friends I would be curious what the consensus is on grey-tone art.
I have turned in pre-toned art and had a colorist literally Redraw parts of the page.... boy I wish I was joking about that... or recently had someone completely level the grey out of the image.
I remember seeing Marte Gracia show his steps for color which started with a grey under layer, which I understand now essentially acts like the grey of a mirror reflecting the color from the overlay layer which is why Marte’s colors were so always vibrant compared to other color

I find skin tones get messed up if you have greyscale underneath....
