There was nothing wrong with the question, that's why herpes is very common among adults now! It's THE WAY he asked. He should have offered for BOTH of them to take it to make sure they BOTH are free of any STD before being intimate.

At this point, I just feel like he likes to publicly embarrass this woman on TV. He found a pretty woman from another country who didn’t have much and had a child. He’s sitting over there looking like a melting two scoop ice cream cone but every chance he gets, he does something to make this woman that if she, had a job a career or had money wouldn’t look at him twice, especially by the things that he says, and the way that he acts

Devils advocate here: there is a TON of Sex tourism in the Philippines (one might even argue that's basically what Ed is doing himself) and as the result, there's actually a lot of babies born every year from it. The men who do this are unsurprisingly really gross, and STDs are rampant. The fact that she is so guarded about her past and who her child's father is could be argued as being a bit sketchy. I don't think Ed is trying to be a douchebag, I do think he's being smart but he should have approached this by offering to get one too.

Then she said that she'd do the test if he does it also, to which he responded, "I will when I get back to the U.S because I don't want to take one here." So it's okay for Rose to take a test in a third world country, but he can't risk his own safety? What a nice guy.
And by the way, an std test is not a blood test, if needles is what he's worried about. None of this conversation with him makes any logical sense.
