I lived on Guam for 8 years and there were lots of Filipino people living there. Plus, in the states, I had some Filipino friends and they taught me how to make pancit, adobo, lumpia etc. 💕 Love Filipino people. I'm happy to hear Tagalog phrases again and I'm going to relearn them!!!

1. When you said: "pangalan mo" I could immediately understand it . In Javanese, "pangaran mu" or simply "aran mu" means the same as pangalan mo. "pangaran" from the basic word "aran" means "name". "mu" means "you/your". This word is now usually used to refer things or stuff but sometimes it's still used to refer human.

2. Your pronounciation for "tulong" is exactly the same as we do in Javanese language and it also refers to the same meaning.

3. Oh I just found another similar word, it's "kalimutan" which means forget. . In Javanese, it has the base word "limut" means forget. With affix 'ka-an', "kalimutan" means "occupied with forgetfulness". This word isn't used on daily basis but we still understand it. It's still used in literature tradition though.

4. I re-watched this video and found out that "gawin" is also similar to base word "gawe" in Javanese which means "to do/ to work/ to make". It can also be developed to "gawean" means "work" (noun) and sounds pretty simillar to "gawin" in Filipino.

5. Babayin (traditional Phillippine script), is developed from Kawi, a script that was developed in Java to write Old Javanese.

I was watching on Netflix "Goyo, The Boy General" and listened to that beautiful language that sounds like music and came here to learn some Tagalog on Youtube. I used to have a filipino girlfriend when I was at the university and she taught me some phrases, now I feel like learning the language for the fun of it. Greetings from Panama. Maraming salamat!

I am an American living in Central Visayas but I'm more familiar with Tagalog. Since my familiarity is with Tagalog I decided to finish learning Tagalog first before turning my attention to Bisaya. So I start learning Filipino on this channel. To my surprise many of my Filipino friends who hear me practicing say I am practicing Bisaya. This makes me very happy because I look forward to communicating better with my Filipino friends. The true test of language skills is to be able to carry on a conversation with native speakers in their language.
