How did you square up the rafters to the ledger so that it would angle? Did you cut 45 degree angles into each rafter first and then install with hangers? Thank you!

Looks great! I'm getting ready to put one of these across my out building. 40' long and 12' out. I like watching people build things like this and decks and it blows my mind that people will through bolt beams and not notch it. A bolt holding 2xs to a beam is eventually a log splitter. Not so much in your case, but a deck with its weight and 20 or your closest friends is a disaster waiting to happen. Also needs to be bolted through the rim joist no lags. Keep up the good work!

FYI: expansion anchors, get installed after concrete cures. Typically 28-days, for full strength. Drill hole, then drop in, hammer to depth, tighten to expand the anchor. Not much in sheer, tension, compression strength when placing in wet concrete.

Nice project, nice explanation. I’m about to build one just about the same size onto my barn and your video is just about the same way I’ve planned to do it. I might cut birds mouths, though, just to see if I can, because on the other sheds I built I never used them but I feel like I oughta finally learn how. I also like the idea for the post bases that you made instead of sinking the posts into the ground. And finally, your use of untreated 2x6s I think is fine, because they’ll be dry under the metal. I’ll stain mine as opposed to painting because I’ve found that stain doesn’t crack and flake like paint and it also provides good weather protection. Stain has worked well on my barn and other sheds. You wet set your expanding anchor bolts for your posts.. These are meant to drill out AFTER the concrete cures. then tightening will expand them
