✅ Peplink 5G - Band Locking, Speed Bonding - What SIM Cards Work? Verizon & TMobile Home Internet

preview_player
Показать описание
Can you use Verizon or T-Mobile Home Internet SIM cards in another cellular modem like the Peplink Balance 20x? Lets look at the options like band locking, custom APN, speed bonding, etc that the Peplink offers. I also test out a MVNO like Tello that allows you to bring your own device for the service. Lets compare speeds and function for these various options.

It’s the SIM card from the Verizon home internet. It has some type of lock in it. I’ve tried mine in a different device and had similar issues. It had signal but no connection. Try an iPad sim if have 1. They’re data only and don’t have the same home internet restrictions.

Hey Nate. I am about to pull the trigger with this device but even after reading the manual I cannot find the answer to this question: if we just install one SIM card, either in the main slot (bottom of the device) or in the 5G expansion card. Can we still get both 4G/5G Bands and band aggregation like the trash can and other inferior devices with only one SIM card slot? Thank you so much.

Hey Nate, I’m from Port Huron, and I don’t have Verizon home Internet available, but I have T-Mobile. I tried the T-Mobile home Internet Sim in a Netgear modem/router and couldn’t get it to work. I called T-Mobile and was told that they lock it to only their devices. The rep told me that he didn’t know if it was locked via IMEI, MAC address, or whatever. Hopefully you can convince them to do it.

is this the hardware version of speedify?

TMHI AND VZWHI are both IMEI locked to the OEM hardware. If magic worked on this device it would be a good unit.

I just got my T-Mobile Home internet and I find it very inconsistent. Some times I am 25d 2u and other times 170d 12u. I am 1.75 miles from the tower and have it on a booster now. It helped a little. Not sure if I want to add the external antennas, going up on my roof in Michigan right now is not very safe. I may be returning it because I have a Plex server and I can not connect to it from outside the home with the T-Mobile device.

Well t-mobile sells the exact same modem as the peplink for business customers. Someone on Reddit gave me the link. I’m talking about t-mobile home internet

I have finally got a Tmobile sim that works in my pepwave max pro 5g, not sure if its the best plan yet, but it works. My issue is getting port forwarding to work using my own personal router. I know you have some experience with that because of your setup. I am doing the IP passthrough and have the pepwave connected to my netgear router. Everythying seems to work connected to my router, but when I use port forwarding and check the ports online with a port checker it always says they are closed. I can confirm with the application I am playing with online it states my NAT is strict. What am I doing wrong?

On my MoFi I can change the TTL so that my data stream looks like all voice and will not count against my data plan. Does this router have this option?

Nate, not sure if the Peplink modem has a area to send AT commands to modify the IMEI. The Peplink has to have the proper IMEI and sim to handshake with the tower. Good luck on getting these big corporations to give the green light on the Peplink imei.

I believe verizon won't work with the pep link if it's not on their device database, which means they would have to add it and they don't do that

That's great info about T-Mobile's data sim cards being locked to the first device that they're used in.

Interesting I had no issues using 3 different verizon home internet sim cards. They must have locked it down recently

Yo thanks for the great content bruh! Why not use booster similar to whichever brand:model w/ desirable spec instead of running to your attic? Installed a couple at a friends and they work 🥇👍 cost under 1k but 🤷‍♂️ ~~> CDMA/GSM/PCS 850/900/1900 2G/3G/4G Signal Repeater Working system: 1.CDMA 850MHz 2.GSM 900MHz 3.B2 PCS 1900MHz Frequency range: Uplink: 824-849MHz / 890-915MHz / 1850-1910MHz Downlink: 869-894MHz / 935-960MHz / 1930-1990MHz Gain: 75d
