I’m 6-weeks out from a full reverse shoulder replacement. Pain is bearable with Aleve but there are times I’m paralyzed by the pain when I do cleaning or computer work. Heating pad and ice helps but it’s tough. Nausea, light headed. The pain radiates with stabbing pains. Takes the breath from you.

I am 10 weeks out from a reverse total shoulder replacement and the pain is almost unbearable. The surgeon is unwilling to give me any help. What can I do.

I am one month post surgery with total reverse shoulder replacement. I had a nerve block and a five day prescription for narcotic pain relief, of which I only used half. I had enough to take up to 6 times per day and after just a couple of days I only took one in the AM and one at night so I could sleep. I discontinued that after about 3 days. As I said, I only used about half of the prescription. Now I take ibuprofen in the morning and at night and don't take the AM dose every day. The doctor gave me 3 very gentle exercises to do for range of motion but said not to do anything with weights. I have to remember not to overdo things because the shoulder feels so normal. I do experience a little soreness or fatigue if I overdo the exercises or forget and lift something I shouldn't, but it is soreness - not pain.

I had a partial shoulder replacement. So I didn’t have the plastic synthetic piece put on the glenoid. The doc didn’t want to put in the plastic piece because my humeral head sits to far back and may come loose. Well, I’m in more pain now three years after surgery then I was ever before.

Stop looking at us as clones. Everyone is different. It'll be a week tomorrow, and while I've skipped some doses, I've needed the original doses for exacerbations in pain after going back to my 4 mile+ walks. I thought I'd be doing better. Maybe by next week I'll be down to half. I hope so. I still have lots of swelling causing pain as well. Again, we're all different. You can't say "most". I keep trying thos miracle OTC pain meds and antiinflmatories that do nothing to no avail. Ice still makes things stiffer and I'm afraid heat would increase swelling.

Pain lasts longer than a few days. It can take weeks and it can come and go. This video is not giving the reality of this surgery.
