Federal Employees and Retirees are consistently looking for help when it comes to their Medicare choices as their HR department, Social Security, Medicare, and their health insurance carrier do not consistently provide the correct information for them. Nicole Sherwood will be covering how Federal Employee Health Benefits (FEHB) coordinates with Medicare. She will also cover the new Postal Reform Act and the newly developed Postal Service Health Benefits Program (PSHB). In addition to understanding a federal retiree’s Medicare options and choices, Nicole will also show detail from the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and how to determine exactly what health insurance a retiree has and exploring other gaps in their coverage, specifically life insurance needs.

In NC I WAS told the federal bcbs freedom MA only plan would automatically terminate at the end of the year for postal employees. Does this mean they can add a NEW MA only plan?

Please correct me if I'm wrong.. So I can suspend FEHB or PSHB, enroll in medicare part B and sign up for Senior Advantage Plan at Kaiser. This will cover my family's medical needs.

QUESTION, I’M soon to be retired postal employee with approximately 24 yrs of service by retirement. My spouse which is also retiring is a postal employee with the same 24 yrs of service by retirement. My spouse is currently under my health plan ( self + family). On retirement, we plan on not choosing survivor benefit. Will she lose her health benefit, because I didn’t chose survivor if I pass, or would she be entitled for her benefit applying for QLE since she also has creditable service with the postal service. Appreciate your response to this . Thank you, David

There was no need to do this. In the end, annuitants and workers are paying more. Too few choices compared to FEHB regardless of what the zoom meeting leaders try to color it. My insurance co said it was not beneficial to come over due to the pool size.
