Opabinia is such an oddball in that it has an eye in its center of bilateral symmetry which is quite uncommon in a lot of animal groups

Early evolution was certainly full of oddballs. I find these guys far more interesting and it leaves you wondering what they evolved into

I never realized Opabinia was so small, I always thought it was lobster sized given its art doesn't give a good sense of scale.
