Oh, it was definitely a radio hit! Trust me. I was 11 when it was released in 1973, since we couldn’t really afford much in the way of albums or concerts, the radio was the only place I heard it all through high school and college. And for those times I wanted to hear it when it wasn’t playing on the radio, I learned to play it on the guitar.

Many of the comments will mention the fact that Linda Ronstadt does a breathtaking version of this. It's true.

This is why the EAGLES are the greatest American rock band. They are known for their incredible harmonies and incredible song writing. They sound just as amazing live as they are on their album. I have seen every concert tour that they have had since the 1986. Every concert is just as amazing as the first time time that I saw them.

I will NEVER understand these groups getting upset and blocking reaction videos! Don't they understand how many people may have never otherwise heard their music or even heard of THEM without these channels?! They should be thanking you all for the free publicity, for appreciating their music, and creating an entirely new generation of fans!

Seven Bridges Road is another great Eagles song with amazing harmonies. One of my favourites of theirs.

These are some 70s music gods. I'm 62 & grew up with this song. They are very protective of thier musical rights but I am greatful for you sharing it.

The Eagles are perfectionists in their music. I have been an Eagles fan for 50 years. I have seen them live 11 times. You want harmonies listen to more of their music!

Britt, Tequila Sunrise would be another great song to listen and react to! From the same venue and concert in Melbourne! Glenn Frey is the lead singer! The harmonies are great!

Thank you so much for reacting to my pick! ❤❤ The Eagles are one of my mums favourite bands and this song always makes me remember being a kid and relaxing with her at night with a hot chocolate and just talking and listening to good music just the two of us. I love getting to share this song with people and the Eagles are just great over all! Thanks again!!

The Eagles are so meaningful to me. Me and my father shared a love of this band and after his passing, the music still connects me to him to this day. This is such a beautiful song and Don Henley's voice being described as chill mountain air gave me goosebumps. More Eagles!!!!

The Melborn concert was a reunion concert for a fan base they had for too long neglected. They realized this after each had gone their separate ways years before, and felt a need to repay their greatest fans by giving them an exclusive reunion concert. A perfect example of their character as Human Being's. Good men all.

This is actually a Linda Ronstadt song, the song was written by Don Henley and Glen Fry who were both previously with Linda Ronstadt. Not only were they friends, but Linda was aware of them wanted to become serious songwriters. So Linda recorded the song for her album Don't Cry Now 1973, the same year as the Desperado album. Both were on the Asylum label, the label never released the song as single for either. But Linda performed the song regularly in concert and popularized the song (even garnering some radio play). Don Henley has even said that it's Linda song. It was because of Ronstadt popularizing the song, that it was included on the first Eagles Greatest Hits package.

This was the title for the album Desperado. It wasn't a deep cut. That album sold over 2 million copies and was one of the biggest things on the radio when I was growing up in the 1970s

Writer Logan Puissegar best described the meaning of this song. He writes "“Desperado” depicts a cowboy who refuses to fall in love. He is too busy on his high horse to “let somebody love him.” The song often relates to addicts, who let alcohol, drugs or other addictions hold them back from what they are called to. For Don Henley and the rest of the Eagles, the deeper meaning of the song portrays the stress of being a rock star, a recurring theme amongst their music. The life of a musician is very stressful. It includes suffering, and at times, loneliness".

The queen of diamond depicts material things while the queen of hearts represents love. Material things will only leave us wanting more. Only love will fulfill us. While the word comes from the Latin meaning to despair or lose hope. I think it's talking more about letting pride get in the way of what is best for him.

The Eagles told stories to music. Parables with a beginning, a middle, and an end. Troubadour's with a message that anyone could relate to.

Eagles had a country / western flavor to them. Desperado was a cowboy wanted by the law. Witch woman was always one of my favorite Eagles song. A favorite Eagles song is sort of like picking your favorite candy.

According to Henley, "Desperado" was based on a song he started in 1968, written in the style of old songs by Stephen Foster.[4] The song was originally about a friend named Leo and with the opening line "Leo, my God, why don't you come to your senses. Although it was never released as a single, it became one of Eagles' best-known songs. It ranked No. 494 on Rolling Stone's 2004 list of "The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time", The piano introduction of the song is taken from Ray Charles' version of "Georgia On My Mind". According to an interview with Don Henley, "Desperado" was not a hit for the Eagles until Linda Ronstadt recorded it. It was written by Don Henley and Glenn Frey. It was released in 1973. This performance appears to be in Melbourne Australia. It also looks like Don Hendly is the last of original band members.. It ranked No. 494 on Rolling Stone's 2004 list of "The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time"

They were Linda Ronstadt back band and she encouraged them to go out on their own. She made this song a hit and they sang it to honor her. Great reaction Britt!!!

Love, love love! The greatest rock band ever! My opinion. Great reaction. Glenn Frey and Merle Haggard died in the same year. I am still not over their passing.
