Mottled Wood Owl (Strix ocellata) is a medium sized owl, measuring up to 49 cm, without any ear-tufts. It is endemic to Indian Subcontinent and found in most parts of Penninsular India in open wooded areas, groves around villages and cultivation in the plains.

Its IUCN Status - "Least Concern" (LC).

Filmed at Shoolpaneshwar Wildlife Sanctuary, Gujarat, India in December, 2019.

When i was kid i heard this sound first time.. Believe me i shit in pant on that night.. After 15 years still this sound scares me.. I never saw this owl even if i tried to find it..

I have heard people say that "uvraa uvraa" sound is made by female and howl sound is made by male. Not sure though.
