Making over a FREE Dining Set | High End Furniture Makeover

I have been hunting the thrift stores for months looking for the perfect dining set to makeover for our own dining room and just wasn't able to find what I was looking for but then a few weeks ago facebook marketplace delivered – a solid wood pedestal table with 4 chairs, in great condition, free on the side of the road!

I think the choices you made were based on your personal space...so they were your perfect match for the rest of your space. I think that set was so lovely to begin with. You had good bones to work with. The pieces look very stylish. You have very good taste. Thank you for sharing. I have no work space at all to do refinishing. I am poor so I sometimes can afford great second hand. I moved to my present apartment. Hurricane Sandy came and we were all moved out temporarily. I went to my son's apartment...the roof caved in about two inches from my body so from there I stayed with a family for about two months. FEMA evaluated all the damage to our apartments and gave us some help. With that help, I fashioned a country cottage style home. Everything came together like a beautiful painting. Three years later, bed bugs arrived and decided to move in. I lost everything!!! I had to get a cot to sleep on, new pillows, and everything else. I have had the heebie-jeebies ever since...lol. Now I have a look that is made of palettes and odd bits and bobs from anywhere I could get them...free!!! If I could do what you do, then I could refinish and refine but I do get lots of compliments on my new look. Funny...how you can spend some money...have a great place...lose it...have nothing...and finally get something for nothing! I would love to be able to do what you do. I think it is so great to watch people transform and improve on whatever they can.

A tad green/olive pigment in your final mineral spirit wash or a little in your stain, will reduce the red, I do it when mahogany is too red and I need to knock it back some.. beautiful job!

Wow!!!! Just seeing this video. I have the same shaped table, pottery barn, but was
Preowned when I purchased it, but began
Sanding, immediately realized it was not wood, but underneath same as yours was
Seem to be wood, quality isn’t known, but painted over the top with chalk paint, and a clear coat, still not happy, I want to really get down to the of that top surface, thank you so much for this video. I know that 8 months late.
