About Assassin's Creed (2007) (source Wikipedia):

The Assassin's Creed games primarily revolve around the rivalry and conflict between two ancient secret societies: the Order of Assassins, who represents freedom, and the Knights Templar, who represents order. Versions of these societies have existed for centuries, with the Assassins seeking to stop the Templars from gaining control of Pieces of Eden, artifacts that can override free will to control people

About Assassin's Creed Valhalla (source Wikipedia):

In 873 CE, political pressures in Norway prompt Eivor Varinsdottir and her adoptive older brother, Sigurd Styrbjornsson, to lead their clan of Vikings to settle new lands in Anglo-Saxon England, as part of the Viking expansion across Europe. The clan comes into conflict with the kingdoms of Wessex, Northumbria, East Anglia, and Mercia over the next several years, as well as the warring sons of the legendary Viking warrior Ragnar Lothbrok, who made up the Great Heathen Army. It is during this time that Eivor meets the Hidden Ones—precursors to the Assassin Brotherhood—and aids them in their fight against the Order of the Ancients—precursors to the Templar Order.

About Assassin's Creed Mirage (source Wikipedia):

Set decades before the events of Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Mirage is a "coming-of-age story" following Basim Ibn Ishaq (Lee Majdoub), a street thief who will learn to fight for a cause larger than himself by becoming a Hidden One under the tutelage of his mentor Roshan (Shohreh Aghdashloo)

This short video is a reply to a question from the most liked comment in our previous Assassin’s Creed short breakdown. Overall, the hidden blade as a weapon is best for a single ambush. Not for multiple ambushes in a day or for dueling. One thing we liked is how in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, they joked about losing a finger with character Basim.
While Eivor from AC: Valhalla wields the weapon ideally to avoid losing their finger, it doesn’t solve the real life issue of blood corrosion. However, we understand, it wouldn’t be fun if we had to clean or repair our hidden blade every assassin. We don’t want another Breath of the Wild situation with breakable weapons haha.

Honestly had no idea blood was corrosive. Now I see why Ghostface kept wiping off his Buck 120 with that by now iconic move

that one guy who plays with blood turned off, not a problem.

Personally, I like the idea that the hidden blade is almost like a ceremonial weapon to the assassins. It's not the best, and they obviously train with swords and daggers for that reason, but they are almost like a cult that exalts the act of assassination. It's more than killing, it's an art with a ritual surrounding it, and thus it needs a ceremonial tool.

Even in the games it's not the main weapon of the assassins, in combat they use all kinds of melee and projectile weapons and the hidden blade is only a backup. It's main function is to quickly appear-disappear, be stealthy and unexpected. They probably take it apart every night and clean it like any professional worker who takes care of their tools.

Long post lol:
Hidden blade is actually more fantastical than realistic. Because in the lore, Altair, one of the legendary Assassin member actually use magic artifact (Piece of Eden) to enhance his intelligent and redesign the weapon to make it more reliable to use like easy retraction and safety. The first ever hidden blade is actually dangerous to use. It hurt the user and he had to lose a finger. But that accident later become a ceremonial ritual, every member have to remove their the ring finger for the purpose of not just to use the blade (before redesign) but also as a sign of dedication. But after redesign, the removal of the finger is not necessary anymore but the ritual still occur but instead of cutting the finger, they just use hot metal then brand it to the finger

If i remember correctly, assasins basically had a sort of fabric tied around they're middle finger, and it helps deploy the blade by pulling back the fabric with a wrist motion. So it cant actually deploy into your arm. For the blood thing, yeah i dont have a defense for that.

I love the idea of the Assasins maintaining their hidden blades and tools etc.

Damn… my dude just destroyed one of my favourite fantasy weapons with reasonable logic and I can’t even be mad…

I like the idea that during the retract of the blade, it glides through a fabric or a seal to remove any blood or debris.

Lore-wise, the Blades are actually cleaned every now and then, and replaced if neccessary.
We just don't see it in the Games, because it's not a Gameplay Mechanic.

The "accidental activation" is something that was actually acknowledged inside the Games (most obviously in "Origins" where that's basically why Bayek lost his finger by an accident). The release mechanism is on a sling attatched to the user's finger (most of the time, on the middle and the ring fingers). It's just something the Assassins always have to think of.

Where Logan speaks of accidental deployment, its shows the assassins with a missing ring finger. In AC: Origins that finger is lost due to the blade deploying practically on accident. Even though it was a moment of desperation during a fight, it costs a Bayek that finger.

Assassins are very skilled in using the hidden blade and it only opens in a very specific hand position, plus i think that every assassins cleans his blade and its mechanism really will after a mission

This was actually a problem in the earlier versions of the hidden blade. The blade would cut the wielders fingers off so the brotherhood preemptively cut the finger when initiating new members into the brotherhood. But a newer better version designed by Leonardo da Vinci actually fixed this issue because it was easier for the templars to recognize an assassin by just looking at their hand and see if they had lost their ring fingers.

Modifications so it'd be better:
1. Make a simple mechanism to clear off blood when retracting blade
2. Put blade on upper part of arm where hand can't bend
3. Add a unique trigger to activate the blade
4. Make the blade slightly stronger by adding a hook/grove (groove?) into the blade for a more lethal attack

An assassins creed game where you actually have to make sure your blade is cleaned off with a button press or at least an idle animation of it happening
