At only 4mm less than a 24-105 but giving you an F 2.8 aperture, is the Sigma 28-105 worthy of your attention? I’d say so! And in this video, I’m going to be reviewing this lens from the perspective of a wedding filmmaker and telling you whether I think it’s a good choice for you to buy if you film, weddings, or documentaries or anything else where you need a lens with a wide range and great lowlight performance.

I still dont think I would get it over the Tamron 35-150. That lens still runs the zoom world. you get way more and as a photographer, its the best right now of all zoom lenses

24-70mm may be boring, but i find myself using it all the time. I must admit, this 28-105 f2.8 has my attention.

Since I’ve owned the Sigma 28-45mm f/1.8, I’ve definitely noticed the difference between 24mm and 28mm. However, this new lens is still a solid choice, especially at the price point! Great review 👍

Just wait until Tamron comes out with the 28-180 f2.8 🤫

Just use crop mode or clean image zoom with your 24-70mm lens to get to 105mm.

the 28mm factor you mention here is pretty real. for events, 24mm gets the job done most of the time, but have found since switching to the 28-70, i really need to stay conscious of my position when putting group shots together. (muscle memory is very real in regards to focal lengths!) Overall it's usually not a deal-breaker, but something you def have to acclimate to.

nice review here!

Thanks for the review!
I've been shooting with crop cameras for 13 years, where my minimum focal lengths started at 17-18mm (~27mm on FF), so 24mm is not a problem for me, I've never had that, and if I want to get wider, I'll take something around 17-28 from Tamron :)
At 28-105, the only thing that confuses is the size and weights that I can't test until I buy a lens. I take photos and videos with my hands, on different trips, so weight can be a disadvantage.
But I like to zoom too much.

That 4mm in the wide end, is super important for me. But i must say sigma did a great job on this lens. Maybe i will try it out some day, but a 24 - 70 mm f2.8 will always be my favourite.

Amazing lens but losing the 4mm on the wide end hurts, 28 is just a tad too tight in too many situations. Personally I'd rather a 16-35 and 70-200, and just have a gap from 36-70 - as you say these focal lengths look quite plain/boring.

I love my sigma art 24-70 for weddings but I always wish I could zoom tighter during ceremony vows and such. So I may need this. Also the declicked aperture ring would be an awesome feature too. I don’t think I’ll miss the 4mm on the wide end. But all this to say, I doubt I swap my 24-70s for these for a year or so

How do you get your A7siii to track your face like that with autofocus? Great video!

The manual focus is an absolute dealbreaker. Sigma should fix this on e-mount.

debating wether to go for this or something wider than a 28 like a 16-35 f4 pz. I currently have a tamron 28-75 f2.8 gen1 and it's okay but I find the sharpness lacking in some instances, with odd color shifts.

Finally decided to get out of the Canon cripple ecosystem, sold all my Canon glass and bodies, and bought a Sony FX3 and Sigma 24-70 Art mark I since it was less expensive than the mark II. This might be the upgrade in a few months along with a 70-200.

What's this like in Zoom pulling use? 🙏

I've seen another review saying it doesn't focus when zooming. Can you do a test to confirm this or not? Maybe a short? 👀 It's the ONE thing stopping me from pre-ordering. If I can't do a slow zoom out for aisle shots whilst keeping the couple in focus, its a no for me

You call it the 24-105 at 1:109 btw! I use the Tamron 35-150 on my main cam and need something similar for my B cam for ceremonies & speeches so this has my attention rn

Спасибо за обзор, шикарная линза, я уже готов поменять свой тамрон 28-75, НО...а вдруг тамрон выпустит 24-105 ...со стабилизацией...за $ 1300? Это меня пугает....
