Happy New Year! I listened to Ghettoside on audio and loved it. I'm going to "cave" on Where The Crawdads Sing, too - I don't think I've heard anything less than a glowing review!

Where the Crawdads Sing! It was my number one book.of 2018 and I hope all my friends read it. Thrilled that you liked it too Kendra. I have it in my Audible collection and will listen to it again. I cannot say enough about it. Young Jane Young.. You described it perfectly. Enjoyable enough with some social issues but not heavy. Just finished Severance..wow. Thanks for your videos and Reading Women work and inspiring readers like myself! Have no idea why I come up as Family Adventureas lol. Jen Morrison, Toronto

*Ghettoside* sounds similar to what happens in teaching. The best public school teachers end up teaching at schools in the most affluent areas, where students have many built-in advantages, yet they’re most needed in at-risk schools. But when you tell teachers their pay is going to be tied to their students’ test scores, of course they want to teach in affluent areas where the scores are higher. What a dumb system. All the love for *Crawdads*

Ghettoside was absolutely fascinating. At times challenging to read, it also opened my eyes to an area about which I’ve only heard speculation. Sadly, the stereotypes we see in movies about said police force were made real by this book. This is my go-to true crime recommendation for nearly anyone.

Ghetto Side sounds really interesting! Will have to check that one out - how far back does her coverage of the police department go?
