Installing & Configuring Snort

This video covers the process of installing and configuring Snort 2 for the purpose of intrusion detection. An IDS is a system/host planted within a network to capture traffic and identify malicious activity based on predefined rules, after which, this malicious activity is logged, and a notification is sent to the relevant parties informing them of an intrusion.

That was fun. At the beginning of the video I felt a bit frustrated (my VM was at the beginning stuck on black screen after I switched it to Bridged Adapter) but towards the end was having a blast. Also, that vim function that allows you to mass prepend text into each of the lines is massive. I wonder what is the subtraction equivalent.

When I type 'sudo vim /etc/snort/snort.conf' on my Linux Mint VM terminal, it says "command not found." What am I supposed to do here?

Sorry I don’t understand, Snort is not available on kali Linux so this video is to fix it? English is not my mother tongue, I found different tutorial for that and I don’t understand. I use virtual box
