LG G Pad 8.3 Unboxing | Pocketnow

LG hasn't been famous for launching that many tablets in their history, and yet, they are quite famous for their contributions to the tablet industry. The company has created the IPS technology that powers the iPad since its inception, and given how much we praise those displays, you can understand the level of excitement we had when this Korean giant decided to launch this tablet at IFA 2013.

This G Pad 8.3 that we're reviewing is a Wi-Fi only model that runs Android 4.2.2, and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 CPU clocked at 1.7 GHz, it's got 2 GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable storage via microUSB, a 5 megapixel camera at the tack, a 1.3 megapixel camera on the front, and a battery that's of 4,600 mAh. The biggest story here though, is its 8.3-inch 1920 x 1200 display that rocks a solid 273 PPI, and which we expect to be the tablets best attribute.

At the time of this unboxing, this tablet cost a hefty $350 in the US, which is definitely a tall order in times when the Nexus 7 is already dominating the Android tablet space. Still, this should mean that the product is great, and we're about to either prove it, or debate it. Stay tuned for more coverage on the LG G Pad 8.3 in the next coming days.

Jaime!! I do believe u made it thru 3:01 without saying the "S" word!!! And I didn't know u were an LG G2 fan, I thought EVERYONE @ PNow hated it.. Good to know, great unboxing! BTC

with their g2 they tried really hard to make it just like Samsung's s4 - especially in terms of features and the general package. Now when I saw this for the first time my first thought was - looks just like the new Ipads. They seem to copy a lot, but also that was true about Samsung when it first launched galaxy s then s voice etc. So maybe it's LG's time to take away the lead from Samsung/Apple?

could you guys check out few things for us?
F.ex i'm curious if the software features like slide aside, qpair or knock on is working as well on other launchers, because the stock LG is childish. Also what about USB OTG, compatibility with 3g modems, keyboards. Thanks!

This is a very significant tablet, because it offers a screen size equal to the iPad mini in terms of square inches. Nexus 7 is just a little small, and I don't care if it fits in my pocket. Samsung's 8.0 tablets are good, but nudging the screen up to 8.3 with the 16x10 shape could be just right.

So glad pocketnow is reviewing this tablet. I had given up hope. I'm buying either this or the new ipad mini once the reviews and lte models are in. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it Jaime!

Love this thing and will definitely buy it, preferring it over the Nexus 7. I think the the more money you have to spend (still not very much) is well invested in the significantly added screen real estate, build quality, maybe microSD slot and IR blaster. I may only miss wireless charging and NFC- and the latest Android version. Hoping for proper custom ROM support.

Keep us posted! I liked the Nexus 7, but it didn't quite meet my needs so I returned it, looking for the best thing on the market for a android tablet around that size!

The nexus 7 kills every other tablet in the 7 to 8 inch bracket, I realy can't see why anyone would buy anything else.

Personally not a fan of LG at all mostly because of the software I've been incredibly impressed with Google lately

No Expandable Kindle Fire HD has a Snapdragon 800 at same price, though you need to flash software.

I really seem to like this. It's a great contrast to the Nexus 7. I can't wait for more content to come out.
