Foamy soap pooping pigeon - with schematic

Показать описание
A novelty soap dispenser that literally poops out foam soap when you place your hand under the pigeon's butt. I think this must be in fashion at the moment, as it was notably more expensive than other foaming soap dispensers. ($40 from AliExpress.)

It actually uses a battery of four AA cells for power, which is odd in this era of USB charged lithium cells in everything.

The circuitry is quite complex, and actually compensates for battery voltage by driving the motor with a constant voltage.
The infrared sensing circuitry seems to rely on a fixed detection threshold. It can be triggered at a distance by a generic remote for an RGB light.

I missed the LEDs off the schematic. Both LEDs have a single common 100 ohm resistor to 0v and have their anodes controlled by individual pins on the microcontroller.

Here's a link to the AliExpress listing I got this from (not a sponsor):-

There are many other sellers with this item. Like this one:-

This also keeps the channel independent of YouTube's algorithm quirks, allowing it to be a bit more dangerous and naughty.

Now my wife is insisting I get her one for her 70th birthday. Thanks, Clive.

I'm glad to see that some people still have fun and sense of humor in their companies.

Now, I'm convinced that this can somehow be combined with carbonating a whisky...

That young lad, with tears in his eyes, wearing Japanese girl’s school uniform on the packaging is definition of Japanese marketing.

That valve plate on the pump is probably ultrasonically welded together.
The parts are vibrated against one another at very high frequency which melts the two surfaces, bonding them together.
The explanation is for the benefit of any viewers here who are not familiar with ultrasonic welding of plastics.

That's so stupid it's genius. And I'm childish enough to find it hilarious XD

No pigeons were harmed in the making of this film... Thanks Clive!

Pooing pigeon. Who was the person that sold the marketing team that was a great idea? That person is under paid for sure.

Ours arrived yesterday...a delayed Christmas gift for one of my kids. The translations are hilarious.

12:34 I did not realize that photodiodes act either photoconductively (reverse biased, as in the schematic; allowing current to flow when exposed to light) or when exposed to higher levels of light photovoltaically (forward biased; generating current when exposed to light). Learned something new today, always a good thing. Thanks!

I have to admit to being absent-minded, in fact my younger brother reckons I don’t have a mind.
I am now of the age that, since I can’t remember what I’m doing, I walk backwards out of my front door in case I suddenly remember that I did all my shopping an hour earlier and can simply walk back inside without embarrassment.
It was on one of these periods of mental acuity (as I like to call them), when I was adding bird food to the bird table and a pigeon ‘pooped’ on my hands and I thought it was actually soap.
I have to say, it was quite remarkable at cleaning my face - quite remarkable!!

I purchased one of these foam soap dispensers (sans pigeon) five years ago based on your teardown video here ("Automatic schmoo-pump"). It's one of the best $15 purchases I've ever made. It's used multiple times a day and is still operating on the original lithium iron disulfide Energizers I installed in it when I got it. Lithium primary cells are famously energy dense and long lasting, but still, at FIVE YEARS of continuous on time the circuit they've used here must be exceptionally efficient and low power draw in standby. I recommend opening it up and encapsulating the circuit board in some kind of paint on plastic to protect it from corrosion - the only thing I've had to do to mine a year or so ago after water got onto it and corrosion bridged a resistor.

I guess the challenge now is to combine multiple dispensers and build a unicorn that poops rainbows.

This is so on par with the great fanny flambeaux. It has that same energy with that style of packaging
