Introduction to the Coordinate PLane
Показать описание
An introduction to the coordinate plane, also called the cartesian coordinate system. A coordinate plane is a two dimensional grid that is used to graph points. The coordinate plane is made up of two number lines, one horizontal and one vertical, that intersect at right angles. The horizontal number line is called the x-axis, and the vertical number line is called the y-axis. remember x is left and right and the y axis is up and down x to the left and y to the sky.
The point where the x-axis and y-axis intersect is called the origin. When plotting points you start at the origin.
To graph a point on the coordinate plane, you find its x-coordinate and its y-coordinate.
You can plot a point on the coordinate plane using ordered pairs
With the ordered pair ( 4,5) the x is always written first and the y is second)
