The man is completely delusional if he thinks he is sane for living in that rats nest, my uncle was a hoarder, he got sick and me and my brothers gutted everything out of his house without him there to get in the way. House was spotless when we were done piles of rubbish, old clothes useless boxes all gone. He moaned about it but had a home to come home to and his friends visit now because he maintains it since he accepted it was no way to live. To me he is a lost cause you cant help him when he cant see whats in front of him, he wont even accept help from friends who see him living in squalor.

Asmon doesn't know what the word "clean" means... It's like arguing with a color blind person over the colors of a rainbow. I mean vacuuming one room in that house would probably fill the vacuum to capacity a dozen times. As much as we all love Asmon, the reality is the sameness and unchanging nature of his entire life's existence in that house; the memories and familiarity of everything in it good and bad; provides him with a mental comfort that he probably needs for stability. If someone were to come in and completely clean that house, replace the carpets, paint the walls, fix the damaged ceilings, patch the holes in the walls, and replace the broken appliances, he would never feel as comfortable or stable. It would be like living in someone else's house. I think he'd have a mental breakdown. I just don't know how much longer the house itself can stay standing before it rots.

He and his mother probably lived under these conditions for dozens of years till she died. In his mind this is pretty normal, he basically adjusted to his mother's problems and don't see any danger living like you are in the middle of garbage. Games only helped him escape even more reality and considering how skinny he is and his diet, I would say it would be a miracle if he reached 60 years old.

Its absolutely amazing how much better you feel and how much more creative your mind can be when your environment is clean and uncluttered. I always say, if you have a tool but cannot find the tool, you dont have that tool. The freedom to look around yournroom and not think 'boy I need to clean up' is one of the best feelings ever.
I remember my friend who never vacuumed his house once asked me to take off my shoes when I went inside. My shoes had dog shit and mud on them, and they were cleaner than his carpet.

It‘s not about being crazy or not. If Asmon keeps this up, eventually the mold and other shit will endanger his health. The fact he already quite commonly notices moths and mold in his house, but doesn’t change something screams denial

Buildup of food or trash to large, unsanitary levels.
Building up clutter to the point where you can't use rooms.
Ongoing difficulty throwing out or parting with your things, regardless of their actual value.
