Myth is always alive, propagating, feeding, and evolving. It speaks the artist’s language, rests on the shoulders of imagination, and draws on the insights in its vicinity. If anything, folk tradition is the most alive of all abstractions, for it continually moves and progresses. The perfect example of this living, breathing entity is Atlantis, the island from Plato’s writings. Before we discuss whether Atlantis exists, let us look at the origins of this legend.

It has some roots in reality but I think it's the result of the embellished account of many different events combined with a few myths and legends loosely based on real places and people. Plato knew about that tale or those tales and he used them as a metaphor or an example and then other people just believed it to be a true place and an ancient civilization that somehow disappeared. There're many "Atlantis" all over the world, many civilizations that were very advanced for their time and very powerful but that disappeared for one reason or another.
It's like the myth of the Garden of Eden or even the flood, the Babel Tower or many others. They may be based on something real but the tales have changed a lot and they've been used as exemplifying and moralizing stories. That's pretty much what myths are created for, to give an explanation for some occurrence and at the same time use it with the idea of spreading a message that can be moral, religious, political or all at once.

For anyone interested to find out more about Atlantis and its civilisation, look into the teachings of the ancient Mystery Schools. The secret knowledge passed down from civilisation to civilisation, originated from Atlantis. The Egyptians being amongst the first to 'inherit' this knowledge said so themselves.
Humanity in its development has gone through 5 major races/civilisations so far. We are currently the 5th one, but we are at our end and soon the 6th one will start to emerge. The Atlantians were the 4th one - the one before us. Before them were Lemurians, before them - the Hyperboreans and before them - the first race - the Polarians. Each race had as a goal to develop various aspects of what it means to be human, like self-awareness, feelings, emotions, etc. Our 'goal' as the 5th race was to develop our brains and become smart. Which we've achieved and now it's time to move on to the next goal, which will probably be about brotherhood, cooperation and love.
Research this stuff. It's fascinating!

Atlantis is in the Atlantic Ocean. The location of Atlantis in the Atlantic Ocean has a certain appeal given the closely related names. Popular culture often places Atlantis there, perpetuating the original Platonic setting as they understand it. The Canary Islands and Madeira Islands have been identified as a possible location,  west of the Straits of Gibraltar, but in relative proximity to the Mediterranean Sea. Detailed studies of their geomorphology and geology have demonstrated, however, that they have been steadily uplifted, without any significant periods of subsidence, over the last four million years, by geologic processes such as erosional unloading, gravitational unloading, lithospheric flexure induced by adjacent islands, and volcanic underplating. Various islands or island groups in the Atlantic were also identified as possible locations, notably the Azores. Similarly, cores of sediment covering the ocean bottom surrounding the Azores and other evidence demonstrate that it has been an undersea plateau for millions of years. The area is known for its volcanism however, which is associated with rifting along the Azores Triple Junction. The spread of the crust along the existing faults and fractures has produced many volcanic and seismic events. The area is supported by a buoyant upwelling in the deeper mantle, which some associate with an Azores hotspot. Most of the volcanic activity has occurred primarily along the Terceira Rift. From the beginning of the islands' settlement, around the 15th century, there have been about 30 volcanic eruptions (terrestrial and submarine) as well as numerous, powerful earthquakes. The island of São Miguel in the Azores is the site of the Sete Cidades volcano and caldera, which are the byproducts of historical volcanic activity in the Azores. The submerged island of Spartel near the Strait of Gibraltar has also been suggested.

It is no mystery at all, Jimmy. There has been more than one event, since the Younger Dryas. The scaring, that you are pointing out, was from the Thera volcanic event of 1538BC. During the years 1538BC; Theseus had been King of Athens, for five years, after killing the Minotaur. Minos, the King of Knossos, Crete, had been killed in Camicus, Sicily, after having laid siege to that city for five years. Moses was negotiating his people's freedom, from Pharaoh Ahmose I, in the city of Avaris. When the volcano erupted, the entire volcanic mountain dropped into the caldera that had been feeding it, then sea water flowed it. What happens when that amount of cool sea water hits hot magma? The explosion was so great, that the sound waves circled the entire Earth ten times and raised the northern section of the African tectonic plate over a foot. The raising of the continent allowed the waters of the Reed Sea to drain off and allow Moses and his people, with many Minoan refugees, to cross. The following tsunami wiped out Ahmose's chariots, Minos' armada, the city of Argos, the scaring of the Sahara and other areas. The tsunami also washed away what was left of the newly resurfaced city of Atlantis, into the Atlantic Ocean. I suspect that the Richat structure had been rising for thousands of years, since 9600BC and that the 1538BC event left it completely vulnerable. To find any possible evidence, an underwater expedition needs to be taken off the coast of Nouakchott, Mauritania and finally solve this issue and force modern Academia to give in and rewrite the timeline of human civilization. The best piece of evidence, would be the statues of Poseidon and Cleito. Find those and expose modern Academia for what they truly are. I wish I could put together a team, that could do just that but unfortunately, I do not have the financial means to do so. But if I did have the means, I would definitely call together those who are on my list, of which you are included. I hope that you have been watching David Edward's "A History Of..." because it has been very insightful and he is also on my list. My list also includes; Simcha Jacobovici, Graham Hancock, Jahannah James, Randall Carlson and Bob Ballard, just to name a few. It would be nice to validate everyone that modern Academia has been criticizing, for over the past century.

Why would plato go to such length to describe the geography of the city if it was made up?
what is the point of detailing such things as the color and type of stone found in atlantis.
what is the point of claiming the city was made up of concentric circles of land and water.
what is the point of giving actual measurements of the size of the city.
and so on it does.
if you claim it was an allegory you have to be able to explain why he gives so much seemingly unnecessary information.

This video was so poorly researched. Completely left out the most critical evidence of the Younger Dryas and how that perfectly lines up to when Plato said Atlantis existed. Aswell as how the current Azores Island are the peaks of an ancient larger island known as the Azores Plateau

I think some of the more outlandish theories are myths stories whatever you want to say but Plato was telling the truth about hearing the story from his dad some of the statements or lol most in his retelling are just flat wrong but based off a real place I doubt it was called Atlantis but if remnants of it’s ever found I think it’ll show that’s wear that unexplainable explosion in building technology was originally developed to an extent the first foundations of it like Gobekli Tempe was
