Probably worth a refresh of this for 2022 with added detail on more of the options available, the chipsets, and updates to ELM327 for v2.2, etc. A nice table at the end comparing the options would be great.

Great video. Short and to the point. Will the odb link plus work with torque pro or should go wi fi? I have blue driver, Samsung tab s tablet, and 2020 Camry hybrid. Even though the blue driver is connected to my tablet, torque pro can't seem to communicate with blue driver. I went in the adapter settings and tried changing protocols between the torque pro and blue driver. The blue driver works fine on tablet with the blue driver's native app with no issues. Hence, why trying a different odbii dongle. Any light you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Hi.. Important question in the following paragraph, but first, i would like to say thankyou for the very informative video you have here, appreciate all of your time put into making this, the internet nowadays is basically a limitless digital library, however some of this info is unobtainable for some due to it needing to be purchased. Its the individuals such as your self which really make an impact and help out those who just want to learn something new, dive deep into a current hobby or even lifelong passion starting from the bottom level. i realize i am alittle late to this forum and im not sure if you actively monitor this, but i do have a question..

Would any of these be compatible with a windows laptopsuch as a microsoft surface laptop? do you have a specific recommendations for the use of a laptop with OBD II diagnostics and such?

All this info is great but I'm wondering... my check engine light is on so I bought the cheapy one (that you said you could not connect to) with hopes that it will identify why the light is on and of course clear the code when it's fixed. Is this possible? It sounds like if I can connect to it, it will just be monitoring the engine's performance?! And yes, when the check engine light came on, I did in fact open the hood and looked for the engine! I found it too right there where it's been for the last 20 years or so! 😊

Comparing a 20 dollar OBD Scanner to a 80 dollar OBD Scanner is like comparing a Ford to a Maserati. The more expensive ones are going to have better features. You get what you pay for. In 2023 most wireless OBD Scanners are now mostly Bluetooth . i bought a OBDLink MX+ FOR 119 dollars on Amazon which only cost me 19 dollars after being approved for a Amazon Prime credit card with a 100 dollar credit. You did not mention that the OBDLink MX+ can also be hooked up to a Windows computer. So far it has worked very well and pinpointed a miss in my number 3 cylinder which I have now fixed. So OBD Scanners are definitely worth the money that you pay for them.

is BlueDriver Bluetooth Pro OBDII Scan Tool for iPhone & Android able to scan european cars as well and is there a list of models that it covers? I know that this video is 4 years old, so I am interested if it is still a good buy.
