"What would you rather have survive in an accident? You or your car?"

That's basically the summary right there.

New cars: lots of crumple zones. Old cars: the crumple zone is the other car

Scotty, I used to think you were crazy, but I gotta say, you're incredibly knowledgeable and I appreciate you sharing your 50 years of experience. You have a way of explaining complicated things in a way that's easy, short, and straightforward while being entertaining. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and making it fun to learn mechanics!

I knew that cars since the early 2000s had become dramatically safer than older solid steel frames, but no one had really explained why. This is really informative. Thank you

Trying to explain this to old timers is damn near impossible. I'm a mechanical engineer and have sat in on multiple SAE presentations....the idea people think old cars are safer makes my head explode. Thanks for showing people why....also the 50s Malibu vs the modern malibu crash test should make a strong case.

Scotty, I haven't heard you talk much on Acura vehicles. Any insight on the Acura brand / Honda luxury vehicles engines, performance, and reliability? Oh Yeah! Thanks for another great video. Appreciate all the knowledge your passing along.

The crumple zones explanation was great. It does save life and injury by distributing the energy though the body of the car.

Question. Which is better, unibody or frame car? Answer. The frame car guy is no longer around to talk about it.

Scotty, i want to mention the Volvo 240 had a unibody frame with crumple zones both front and rear way back in 1974. They also had reinforced cage for the occupants and a reinforced transmission well and 2 pieced driveshaft to make sure the engine was pushed under the vehicle. They also had 4 treepoint seatbelts and a folding steering collumn

Love how the 4Runner is rocking a body-on-frame design! And bought one!

I'm keeping my full frame 2006 Crown Vic. It's the last of the body on full frame cars. It rides and handles great.
